Fantastic piece, Aaron. Your point about how gender is nuanced is exactly the right counter message to the "either/or" garbage being peddled by so many today. Keep up the great work.

Big loud fucking right!

I became the big bad mean hockey player. It was all a show to protect myself from the bullies that targeted me. I am a lover , a feminist, and I wear my emotions on my sleeve. I’m trying to learn to love myself versus “suck it up big boy”. But we have this society and now actual deciders of right and wrong telling me to be tougher, harder, and stricter.

Also. It’s just infuriating. All these concepts. Everything is just words. All made up! Skinny,

Fat , man , woman. And we use them to box people in and isolate when all of it…..it’s just a fucking word. We are on a spinning rock. And we get one life. But instead we need to define everything and everyone. Some things don’t need definition. I think mental health does and medicine. But aesthetics and personality….. it’s fluid!

It’s very scary right now. And I feel confident posting here. But not in other places. I get scared of retribution etc.

Everything you've said is fine with me, not that it matters. I'm confident we can hold differences of opinion without it being problematic.

As a tax-paying American living abroad for the past 12+ years, one thing has become crystal clear: There is no topic so sacred that it can't be divided into blue-team and red-team thinking. It's one of my least favorite parts of a visit to the home land.
